The Air That I Breathe

Paul and Helen were good Christians and often went to the Lord in prayer with praise or to as for guidance in family matters. Paul often recognized his answered prayers by saying "God helped us again".

Helen's parents were at the stage in life where it was getting difficult to handle a large house and it's upkeep. Her elderly parents sold their home and moved in with Paul and Helen, until they could find a Senior Citizen apartment. But that proved to be an enormous task. There were no openings and the waiting list was depressingly long.

Helen was persistent. She prayerfully called the different Senior Citizen apartments in the immediate area regularly. During one such call, she spoke to a very pleasant lady, who was very compassionate about Helen's dilemma.

The lady proceeded to repeat what Helen had been hearing right along - no apartments were available and there was a long waiting list, "wait" she said, why don't you come in and talk to Mrs. Faith, there may be an apartment available ... come in tomorrow. The next day Helen was at the Senior Complex. She asked for Mrs. Faith. To her surprise no one seemed to know who she was. The manager said there had never been any Mrs. Faith in their employment. "But I was told there may be an opening today", Helen persisted. The manger went to double check... as far as he knew no openings would be available soon. "well" he said, one apartment became available just an hour ago. I can't see how you could have gotten that information yesterday?

The manger decided that Helen's parents would get the apartment. Helen was overjoyed with the decision. The mystery of the voice on the phone and Mrs. Faith was never solved.

There was no doubt in Paul's and Helen's minds that the lady on the phone was an Angel from heaven, sent to intervene and help them find Helen's folks an apartment. Paul praised the Lord and looked at Helen saying "God helped us again".
