Beautiful Time

Don and Debra had gone through a lot together during their married life. The struggles of raising five children had brought them much stress. One of the biggest problems had become Don's drinking. While Don was sober he was a quiet, hard working man, but once he started drinking, bad things began to happen. Don became violent, verbally abusing and physically battering his children. He vented all his frustrations on them.

The children's lives were very unstable. All the children were troubled in one way or another. Drugs played a big part in their lives. The oldest girl became a prostitute, while another sibling left her husband and child when she became involved with drugs. The boys were constantly in and out of jail... it was either drugs or breaking and entering.

Debra, his wife, felt cornered with no where to turn. The situation was getting worse. The police were called in frequently to settle the domestic violence. It was either her husband or her children tearing up the house, every time they got in one of their violent rages.

Someone wisely commented that things have to hit bottom before they can get better. And as far as Debra could see, the situation had hit bottom. On a hot July night, after a big bang up fight, Don went upstairs to sleep off his drunkenness.

It was that night that Don was visited by a host of Angels. He professed to have heard Anglic voices and beautiful music. He was enthralled by his night vision. No one could explain what his vision could have been. But we are sure it was an enlightening experience because it changed his life.

It was shortly after this happened that Don quit drinking. After a series of medical problems, he received a medical retirement. The problems, with his children were not as easily solved. They still suffer the consequences of the abuse. As their long time friend, I constantly pray for another host of Angels to help these children find peace.
